in a size 0x10000000 text file of char type consisting of first character ‘a’ last character ‘z’ with all mid as ‘x’ attempted regex search of “ax+z” with result report no match found as shown in attached image .

There is currently a limit to the maximum length of data that a single regular expression can match. I believe the limit is around a megabyte, and this is done for performance reasons. We can take a look and see if there is any way we can increase or remove this limit in the future. If you really need to be able to do searches this long, it would be possible to use a script to get around the limitation.
