Regex engine specifics

The built-in help says that “010 Editor uses a [regex] syntax similar to Ruby/Perl”. It would be good to have a precise reference to the specific syntax or regex engine that 010 Editor uses. Graeme, could you consider adding a link to such in the built-in help?

(I believe I asked a similar question before by e-mail, and that you replied, but I seem to have lost that e-mail thread.)
