I swapped the shortcut of “Copy” and “Copy as Hex Text” because I copy hex a lot. CTRL+SHIFT+C hurts my finger and breaks my muscle memory , but after swapping, I can’t copy the cell from the result using CTRL+C anymore, instead it copys the hex. My suggestion is if the cell is highlighted, copy from cell. If the tab is selected, copy from hex.
Thanks for the feedback. Yes, switching the shortcuts can cause problems when copying from cells. We are planning on adding an option that will automatically copy as hex when copying from the left area of the hex editor and we’ll try to let you know when this option becomes available. Cheers!
Shouldn’t it be normal for right-clicking in the hex area to copy the hex text, right-clicking in the ASCII area to copy the ASCII text, and so on, copying the value of the active area where you right-clicked?
I’d like this to be the default behavior, not an option.
Just a note that in 010 Editor v16 we added an option to the ‘General’ page of the Options dialog to automatically Copy as Hex Text when copying from the Hex area of the hex editor. This option is off by default right now. You can try out the beta here: 010 Editor - Beta Release
