Automatic behavior of `Esc` key can't be changed or disabled

The Esc key is used to:

  • hide all floating tab groups
  • hide Output windows

This can be inconvenient, or even annoying, if the user’s keyboard has Esc located near a frequently used key.

By default Esc isn’t a 010 Editor shortcut key, and even if it is defined by the user as a Shortcut key, pressing Esc still hides floating tabs or Output windows.

Can you either:

  • Suggest a solution, or,
  • Add a Preferences setting to disable the hide function of Esc, or,
  • Add menu command(s) to 010 Editor for hiding floating tabs/output windows, and,
    • Remove whatever “special processing” is currently applied to the Esc key.
    • For backward compatibility w/ expected behavior, add Esc as the default shortcut for hiding.

You are correct that right now the Esc key is fixed and connect be changed. We will have to provide a way in the future to customize this key or assign some of the behaviour to other keys. We’ll look into this.
